Letters and graphics from Brazil

During the past few days the editor of the blog Manystuff was in Brazil, invited by Chaumont, Rico Lins and Christelle Kirshstetter, curators of Connexions>Conexoes, a series of conferences, workshops and exhibitions about France and Brazil graphic design. Many articles were posted, there is a complete recap here. If you don’t know «Pixação» the typical São Paulo graffiti, read the post about the great research done by François Chastanet. Lots of pictures worth having a look on Flickr.

If you are interested in graffiti, forget the mainstream style from the states and read a great interview with François Chastanet by Steven Heller on Aiga Voice about Cholo writing, the graffiti language of Los Angeles.
For further reading, two books by François Chastanet:
— Cholo Writing: Latino Gang Graffiti in Los Angeles
— Pixação: Sao Paulo Signature
