Alice is a typeface designed by Marta Bernstein as the final project for the Type And Media Master in typedesign at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Alice is a small family with size-specific styles that explores the relationship between text and display letterforms. The design goes beyond optical adjustements and creates features specific to each intended size of use. It has been designed primarily for use in magazines that offer long articles and essays, where columns of text are accompanied by distinct and expressive headlines. The different styles fit both the need for a legible text and a change in rhythm and colour for the titles.
Alice performs well also in less serious environments, like packaging, menus and brochures, thanks to the playfulness of the display style, when used at very big sizes.

Alice Regular and Small Caps Designed for setting long texts, it performs well from 8 pt to 24 pt, where its spiky details give the page a very distinctive texture. Its open counters and slightly wide proportions make it very readable at small sizes.
Alice Italic It has been design to work mainly as a secondary script. Its texture is rather different from the regular, hence it can be used alone for pull-out quotes, captions or even short paragraphs.
Alice Black Display It is a sturdy and solid typeface with curvy and soft details that appear when used at very big sizes. Its proportions are slightly narrower to save space for titles and to achieve a compact and black texture.
